All wrapped into one with a ribbon on it

Plot: One famous writer, Paul Sheldon, gets into nasty snowstorm on his way to show his newest book to his publicist. He was rescued barely alive by his number one fan - Annie Wilkes. She used to be a nurse, so she saves him, nurtured him, until the snowstorm ends, so she can take him to the hospital. She stumbles across the new book, ask to read it and... she hates the ending. Her favourite character in the book, called Misery, dies in the childbirth. Annie is furious, she burns the book and demands Paul to write a new book, where Misery is alive. 

Writing and directing: Ok, this piece was written by Stephen King. Well, book was. Now you know,  I respect Mr. King, since he has done a looooot, but I was never a fan. I tried reading his books once, but man oh man, something wasn't right. I dunno, it didn't click for me. Same with movies based on his books. I watched "Shinning" just because of its cult status and "Carrie" was just a mess. Even the praised "Shawshanks Redemption". Oh, tho I have one exception - "1408" movie. That one was gooood. 

I was surprised, that movie was directed by Rob Reiner. I mean, the guy is known for his romantic movies - "The Princes Bride" and obviously "When Harry met Sally...", or if you still don't know him, he played Jessie's father on "New Girl" series. 

Title: I love how ambiguous it is! One, of course, it is the name of Annie's favourite character, and seconds, it was the constant state of Paul Sheldon, being held prisoner in Annie's house. 

What I didn't like: It was a bit slow, and by slow I mean, Paul spend a lot of time in that cabin of Annie's, but we never really know how much. It was mentioned at one point, that it was weeks, but it felt more. Years even. 

Also, these kind of obsessive movies, really makes me think of those people who claim to be someone's "Number One fan". What would they do, if, say, Harry Styles stumbles across them. Would they let him go? 

MDB rating is 7,8. Well... I think it deserves more than that, 8,2 atleast. Cuz honestly, it had its moments. Like for that part, that you can see picture above. Uuuuh, chills. 

Plot: Ok, so a little back story to understand this better -- the 5th season of TXF was supposed to be the last one. It ended with The X Files department being shut down and all the files that went under the letter "X" were destroyed in fire. This movie begins with Mulder and Scully being in a field again, but doing the boring job - defusing bombs and such. In one accident like that, a huge government building was blown up, supposedly empty, but it was discovered later, that three men and a young boy died during the incident. Later when Scully does the autopsy on one of the body's, she discovers that they actually died from some kind of unknown virus. Government tried to cover their tracks by destroying the bodies in the bombing incident. The virus is, of course, extraterrestrial, and what it does, it grows an alien inside the host. So, basically, if the virus spreads, the whole new population of aliens will devour human nature. Mulder is on top of this, but Scully have had enough, she filed the papers to quit FBI and start over.... until the infected bee stings her and she is taken away. Yes, you guessed it, only Mulder can save her. 

Thoughts: This was such a cool sci fi movie, oh my. Even CGI was amazing, as of the 90s movie. I'm such a huge fan of the show and this was just epic. It helped that I've seen the first 5 seasons of this, as the movie was full of already known characters and references, but if you haven't seen them, you'd still get it, cuz it was totally new story and a new adventure. 

What I liked: Mulder and Scully (David and Gillian) have such a natural chemistry together, I just love it. I mean, everybody knows that they fell in love the moment they saw each other, and they are very subtle and umm professional about it, and watching their sexual tension is always amusing. I feel like the writers of this movie took that romance between them little farther as we almost(!) had a kiss. 

Mulder and Scully are just good characters, so well written. Gosh. It even makes me mad, that characters these days on tv are not as good developed and written. 

I love how Mulder gets all hot-headed when he is talking about "finding the truth". And aliens! Finally! The tv show was always so subtle about them, Mulder never really had a real encounter with them and finally! Aaaah!! 

What I didn't like: Ok, this movie was like a candy for fans, but honestly, it was just long long episode. Which I'm cool with! Give me more!! Also, since Mulder is believe and Scully is skeptic, Mulder always sees these cool things, like a real spaceship flies literally 2 feet above his head, is it literally there, and Scully isn't looking! Like, look up, raise your head up, god dammit!!!  

IMDB rating - 6.9. It was a good movie, common. At least 7.5. This movie was a perfect jumping point, as at the end of the movie it is announced that the X Files department is re-opened. I still have 4 seasons left, another movie and yes - the revival of the series next year. More Mulder and Scully please. 

Plot: Amy never believed in relationships. As her parents divorced, her father thought them that monogamy isn't real and that you'll always want somebody else. So this works for her, she is having fun, she is free, has a great job... Oh and she works at some men magazine and is pitched to write an article about this sport's doctor (and she hates sports just like any other girl duh) which happen to be Aaron, a guy she actually likes and wants to spend the rest of her life with. 

Actors: Let me tell you this - I loooove Bill Hader. Even since Saturday Night Live (he was one of my favourite cast members). He is just so funny. Though, when they did promotion for this movie on youtube (they appered on some regular youtube shows, like Good Mythical Morning made by Rhett and Link), he seemed like a bit of a jerk, but know knows. I only know Amy Schumer as a stand-up comedian, but since I do not really follow that kind of entertainment, I can't really say anything about it. Half the rest of the cast were actors from SNL - Vanessa Bayer, Pete Davidson, Leslie Jones, Tim Meadows etc. Also it was fun to see Tilda Swinson into some what different role, but she is chameleon I didn't even recognize her until I read the credits! Ezra Miller was a surprise as well, also Daniel Radcliff and his infamous dog-walker role. You know what I mean. Also bunch of real life sportsmen, like John Cena and  LeBron James. 

What I liked: I liked for even though this was a cliche rom-con, Amy wasn't a typical pretty-pretty girl. Quite opposite, I'd say. More like real life normal woman. That makes her relatable and real. Also Bill's character wasn't idealized as well. He acted like a normal man, not like romantic prince. So a huge plus for braking these clichies. Writing was very funny (kudos for Amy, she wrote this movie), some really fresh and witty humor. 

Also, I feel like I have to mention Daniel Radcliff and his dogs. You all probably remember the pictures of his walking tons of dogs. Well, this was for this movie. Actually for a movie within this movie. It was brilliant! 

And as a plus I'd mention that this movie was directed by Judd Apatow, a great man behind "This is 40", "the 40 year old virgin" and "Knocked up". 

What I didn't like: The movie seemed  little stalling and slow at the times. For example, Amy and Arron didn't even meet for the like the first 30 minutes or so. Also, I know that Amy Schumer is a comedian, but I'm not sure about her acting abilities. And Bill Hader is such a funny guy, like, the best, but he kind of seemed overshadowed by Amy. 

IMDB rating - 6.8 and I feel it's a bit Amy's fault, cuz the movie is some what great overall. I'd give solid 7, just because it is so common and so different at the same time. 

Plot: One disturbed girl, Eva, starts writing songs while in rehab, but sort of breaks free, when she meets James an Cassie. They share a love for music, so they dream of starting a band together.

Actors: One, the main point why I dig up this movie from the back of the drawer was Olly Alexander. Who, you may ask. The lovely actor who plays James, is actually a lead singer of "Years & Years", my newly musical obsession. Honestly, they are so good, and their music gives me chills. Ok, the rest of the cast - Emily Browning. She will FOREVER be Violet Baudelaire from Lemony Snicket's series of unfortunate events (and we shall forget other awful roles she took, like "Sleeping beauty" etc). Then there's Hannah Murray. Let me tell you, that I just can't stand the girl. I don't know why, but the moment she started singing, I wanted to shut down the video, burn it down and never mention it again. But, there was another sunshine in this movie - Pierre Boulanger. Just google his gorgeous French face. I remember his from another God's awful movie "Monte Carlo"with Selena Gomez. Again, he was the best thing there. 

Songs. Yes, it was a musical. Not that I hate musicals, but this one I did. Songs were different, I give you that, but that didn't click with me. I wouldn't buy an album of songs like that. There were literally songs about tree, song about window, of just walking the dogs, getting down with some random girl (that scene was wtf? who wrote this thing??) I know they wanted it to sound super hipster and hip or whatever, but I think that was just an opportunity missed. I'd rather listen to Y&Y songs no stop. 

Writing and directing: This was the first written and directed piece by some Stuart Murdoch person. And.... I think it needed some more work done. Like, making Eva's person the main was a bit weird. She's desperate, sad, and just overly bad written. I'd like to see more of her past, to see her motives and such. I very much preferred Olly's character. He was happy, easily amused and so full of life. And we even know more of a back story in his case. Directing was weird too. Some very very unflattering shots with weird angles. 

IMDB grants this 6.4. I think it was about 4 at least. I honestly thought of dropping it in the middle, and that is never a good sign. God help you all to get thought this movie till the end.

Plot: It is really simple - the last day of summer camp. It focuses on several  groups of campers and the chaotic events on the last day. It's really nothing special. 

Thoughts: This is gonna be quick review, as nothing significant is happening. This felt more as a parody movie , that mocks all kind of movies. They laughed at camper movies, at teenager movies, at the-last-day-of-school movies, romantic movies, nerds, weirdos... aaah all kinds of things. The events supposedly had to happen in the length of one day, but it was over the top exaggerated.

Actors: Woa, what a bunch of A-list actors here. I was surprised to see them all in this. Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks and others. I mean these guys are doing some serious movies these days. 

Plot: We are thrown back into the life of Jesse and Celine after another 9 years. We share another day with them, this time in Greece. 

Thoughts: In my previous posts, I wrote that the end of the seconds movie was very ambiguous, that the audience was left with the questions "did Jesse catches his plane?", "did they hook up again?". So, the two possible outcomes, right? And this movie, immediately states, that yes, Jesse did miss his plane, and yes, they did hook up. This time for real. So, they are together, with cute twin girls, having a long vacation in Greece. What was different -- well, they didn't had any catching up to do. They've been together for 9 years. This movie had a lot more characters. It had like five major scenes (airport, scene in the car, the dinner scene, the walk to the hotel, and the hotel room). All huge and masterfully done. With minimal or any cuts. Just masterfully done. The movie had a lot more fighting scenes, just very raw and real emotions and just  feeling or a true love. Not romantic or fairy-tale like, but after all these years together, they managed to tolerate and truly love one-another.  

What I liked: After all three movies, all together, I'm amazed that even though this movie lacks events, major breakpoints or even basic action whatsoever, it is really intriguing and captivating. You don't even feel the time, I mean one scene is 10 minutes, other 20 minutes, the last probably all 30 minutes. I don't know, it was that good. It gets more and more mature with every movie. And that is beautiful. So unique. After almost 20 years in these characters life, you never know what to expect from the, You don't know how their brain is working and what they gonna say, to trigger one-another. 

I was surprised to find out, that every dialogue scene was scripted and nothing was improvised. Heavily rehearsed even. I mean, it felt so real and raw, as I said. That is truly masterful work by everyone on the set. The script, the writing is just genius. Sharp, bitter, humorous and just so real. Ahh, script so good, they didn't even had to improvise. 

What I didn't like: The way they ended all the story. I don't know, felt kind of... disappointing. Like bad after-taste in your mouth. Something you want to shake off. I mean, they are fighting, they say stuff they probably don't mean to, and for the sake of being together, they make up, but that's what felt bad for me. But when you think of it, the ending, again, was a bit ambiguous, and who knows (but I do hope) for another movie, maybe, I don't know, 9 years later? 

8,0 from IMDB. I'm still in doubts, whether this was the best movie out of all three? It was more mature, that also means better acting, writing, well, better everything. I'm glad Richard Linklater did this, it is a huge part of our modern cinema and I highly recommend movies like these three.  

Plot: Scott Lang, just got out of the prison, trying to turn a new page, get a job, be a clean man. After his infamous heist to some super secure program, he was observed by Dr. Hank Pym, the creator of the Pym particle that can basically shrink you to the smallest size. So Dr. Pym wants Scott to become new Ant-man, for one last heist, to steal a very familiar suits, that was created by Dr. Pym's student Daren Cross, who intent to sell his suit and technology to HYDRA. So, we all know that HYDRA is a bad guy, so naturally Ant-Man has to save the day! 

Thoughts: I love love love Marvel Cinematic Universe! Gosh, ever since Avengers I can't get enough. And I don't even read the comics.  Visuals are goods, plots are entertaining enough, acting is good, and the whole atmosphere just feels epic. What more do you need? 

Actors: Oh man, don't we all have a crush on Paul Rudd? He's just... I mean, the older he gets, the better. Am I right? Though I still remember how cute he was in Clueless. Oh my. I'm happy to see some new faces in Marvel universe. Evangeline Lilly is one nice addition to the bunch. Can't wait to see her becoming a Wasp. That's gonna be amazing! (Sorry if I'm spoiling anything, you have to wait for the post credit scene to see her reveal.) Also loved seing some old faces, like beloved Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell and also The Falcon, by Anthony Mackie. Oh, and I saw one youtube, Anna Alana. Lovely! 

What I liked: I loved cheesy jokes, I did. I loved references they did to the other Marvel movies, like they talked about what happened in Avengers: Age of Ultron, about other little details that are like one big inside joke. Love the careless character of Scott, he is gonna be one hell of an avenger in the future. Oh man, this just gets me so excited for the future. The ants were sweet, made them look like a nice pet to have. I loved one character, Scotts friend Luis' way of telling some little thing with huge amount of details You'll know that I mean, when you see the movie. Also, not movie itself related - I loved the cute posters they made for this movie. Like, Captain America's shield, really close up, with little ant-man on it, same with Thor's hammer, or Black Widow's gun etc. So cool! 

What I  didn't like: Again, I'm just so in love with everything Marvel is doing that it is hard to find weak points. But, I'd say, I feel like they can go deeper and develop some good and interesting villains. Marvel has only used like 5% of awesomeness that it is, and the villains we've seen so far are far beyond what we might get in the future.

IMDB rated this as 7.9, pretty much the same as other Marvel cinematic universe movies. I agree, this one wasn't as bad or as unambitious as others. If you haven't seen it - go to the cinema!
